David Robson: A Journey of Dedication and Excellence

David Robson’s journey into Ashtanga Yoga began in 1998 while he was studying Comparative Religion at university. This initial foray into yoga evolved into a profound commitment as David made his way to Mysore, India in 2002 to study with the esteemed Sharath Jois. This trip marked the beginning of an ongoing journey of deepening his practice and teaching skills. David’s dedication bore fruit when he was Authorized to teach Ashtanga Yoga in 2007, and he now holds a level 2 authorization.

Under David’s stewardship, the Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Toronto has grown to become one of the largest Mysore programs outside of India. His commitment to the practice is evident in his daily involvement with the morning Mysore program, where he nurtures students from around the world. David’s unique contribution to the yoga community extends beyond the studio; he is widely recognized for his educational and engaging yes/no tutorials on social media. These videos have made him one of the most respected and recognizable Ashtanga Yoga teachers globally.

Jelena Vesic: A Passion for Yoga and Advocacy

Jelena Vesic’s path to Ashtanga Yoga is a testament to her passion for the practice and her dedication to teaching. After completing four years of a PhD program in Political Science at York University, Jelena made the bold decision to leave academia and focus on yoga full-time. Jelena’s entry into yoga was through dance, where the disciplined and mindful approach of Ashtanga resonated deeply with her. With a daily practice maintained for over a decade, Jelena has made numerous trips to Mysore to study with Sharath Jois. Her dedication to personal growth is complemented by her studies under Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, where she completed their “The Power of Awareness” course and a two-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program.

Beyond her yoga practice, Jelena is passionate about animal welfare. She is a strong advocate for rescuing and adopting dogs, regularly sharing her love for this cause on her Instagram. Jelena’s two rescue dogs, Goku and Khani, are cherished members of her family and often feature in her social media posts, promoting the #adoptdontshop message.
